Day 8. Viana to Logrono

7 Jul 2017
Day 8 - "nothing worth doing is ever easy".

After a well earned rest day.  Chair fixed. Minor ailments crudely repaired we were back on the road from Viana for our final 15k to Logrono.  The further we got from the Pyrenees the landscape changed from Mountain to small hills and rolling countryside.

We started walking at 9.30, in 30+ degree heat, carrying our heavy bags and raincoats (seriously we can't believe Stevie Thompson gave us them, they're a ton weight!).  Surprisingly no mountains, obstacles, boulders or steep inclines, are we still on the Camino?  A very easy enjoyable days walking compared to previous days experiences.  We arrived in at 1.20pm.

While we were on the trail from first day we came across quite a few pilgrims.  All really lovely, all facing a very hard Camino in either extreme cold or heat for their own personal reasons. All of them seemed to increasingly be interested in our story and admired the hard work and long hours the 4 of us put in to walk an impossible week for MND.  Our very first day while walking on the Pyrenees a guy called Michael stopped to chat to us.  Turns out he was from Lavey, Co Derry and during our brief convo he asked the question "are you Anto Finnegan"?  Small world.  We came across Michael most days while walking or when we finished at night. We wish him Buen Camino, top guy.

Anyway, we have finally reached the end of our journey.  Nearly as good as new!  Determined as ever to raise awareness for MND.  This journey for us is a reflection of life with MND.  There are many rocks and boulders in our path but we overcome them one step at time and with the help our family and friends.

Thank you to to everyone who shared, liked, commented and encouraged us on this very physical and emotional week.  We hope u enjoyed shared snippets from our journey.

MND Fact - 90% of MND patients die within the first 3 to 5 years of diagnosis.

Quote of Camino - "this is it, this is definetly it.." all of us at different times everyday 😍

Buen Camino!
